1. Books or Movies
Books are a perfect gift to day traders. Most day traders are curious, and enjoy reading about the successes and failures of other traders. For a well-established businessman, stop strategy books or simple information, a book entitled “Day Trading for Dummies” can be your choice.
Mark Douglas trading in the Zone is a perfect book for traders with some experience in the business. Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is a classic book by Edwin Lefevre, published in 1923. It’s a fascinating story about one of the greatest personalities in trading history — Jesse Livermore — and, given its age, contains tons of satire and trading insights.
If the trader is more into the video of your life, the List of Trading Films, Documentaries, and TV Shows would certainly include something they haven’t seen.
2. Subscription
Some traders may want advanced charting software, others might want to use another trading platform that charges a monthly (or one-time) fee. If you’re a day trader, let people know which service you’d like to subscribe.
Another potential subscription is to a magazine format — online or on paper. If you know someone who regularly buys a magazine but doesn’t have a subscription, purchase a subscription that lasts a year. This need not be a day trade paper. There are several commercially popular magazines including (but not limited to) Stock & Commodities, Active Trader and The Economist.
3. Technology
Find a tablet for the trader who seems satisfied with their current trading setup. The tablet helps them to track their positions when away from their laptop, and the market. Many brokers now sell specialized applications that make it easy to trad on a tablet. An 8-inch or larger screen is ideal for diagram viewing.
A good laptop makes trading a possibility while traveling. As with a desktop computer, some traders can require minimum requirements on their laptop trading.
