After winning the US Presidential election, Joe Biden opened his first speech in Wilmington, Delaware. Biden said the America had confirmed their choice and voted 74 million votes for Biden and Kamala Harris.
“We won with the most votes ever given for presidential tickets in the history of the nation. 74 million,” said Biden in his victory speech, quoting Reuters, Sunday (8/11).
Having taken over the presidency, Biden said to those who voted for Donald Trump. He called for unity and reconciliation. The former US vice president in the Barack Obama era said it was time for both sides to listen to each other again.
“It’s time to get rid of the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, meet again, listen to each other again, and to make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemies. They are not our enemies. They are Americans,” said Joe Biden.
“I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide. But to unify, who does not see the red states and the blue states, but only the United States,” added Biden.
Furthermore, he quoted the Bible as saying that everything has a season, a time to build, a time to reap, and a time to sow and a time to heal.
“It is time to heal America,” said Biden.
Joe Biden managed to outperform the vote on Pennsylvania
Biden and Harris managed to outperform the vote over Donald J. Trump-Mike Pence in Pennsylvania.
Joe Biden will become the 46th elected president of the United States. So, after a victory in the state in which he was born put him in the 270 electoral votes needed to win.
Thanks to Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes, Biden now has a total of 273 electoral votes. On the other hand Donald Trump gained 213 votes.
