NASA and SpaceX officials: contact tracing has already been done
With the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule launching plan nearing, NASA and SpaceX were very responsive with the news. CNN reported that NASA and SpaceX officials at Kennedy Space Center have commenced contact tracing. Through the tracing, it was revealed that no staff working for the weekend’s mission was risky from COVID-19 exposure.
NASA further assured that the four astronauts bound to test the capsule are also safe from the virus. Deputy manager of flight operations in NASA, Norm Knight, explained that the astronauts have been under a “hard quarantine” for two weeks. The quarantine totally isolates the astronauts from anyone outside of the launch team.
“It’s restricted access. It doesn’t matter if you’re Elon Musk or Jim Bridenstine… if any (of NASA’s Covid-19 protocols) have been compromised, then we’re not going to let you near the crew. And again, it’s to protect the overall mission,” Knight said, as noted from CNN.
