Bill Gates, one of the richest people in the world stated his views when the COVID-19 pandemic ends. According to him, the corona virus will change the way people travel and do business.
“My prediction is that 50% of business trips and more than 30% of office hours will be reduced (post COVID-19),” said Microsot Founder at The New York Times Dealbook Conference, quoting from CNBC, Wednesday (11/18/2020).
This is possible, because working from home is now more possible than before COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, some companies may be more extreme in reducing face-to-face meetings than other companies.
Moreover, Bill Gates has a simpler schedule since this pandemic. Because he doesn’t have to travel to complete his company business. He has had 5 virtual meetings this year with pharmaceutical executives, which are usually held in person in New York.
“We will still enter the office and go on business trips, but with a smaller portion than before,” he said.
So far, the pandemic has drastically drawn demand for air travel, especially for business travel which is usually the most lucrative for players in the industry.
Recorded before the pandemic, business travelers accounted for half of revenue from US airlines. However, due to the pandemic, it has decreased to only 30% of total trips this year.
Well, what about your opinion? Do you agree with Bill Gates’ views when the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
