There are still many people who use bad passwords such as 123456 as passwords on social media accounts and others. This makes it easy for malicious hackers to break into victim’s personal accounts. Last week, NordPass and its partners published 10 bad passwords that were easy for hackers to guess. They conducted a study of 275,699,516 passwords that were leaked on the internet in 2020, as quoted from ZDNet, Monday (23/11/2020).
According to NordPass it took less than one to two seconds for hackers to break into accounts using credentials. Only 44% of those recorded were considered ‘unique’.
Of the 10 most used bad passwords, only the “picture1” password took a long time to crack. It took about 3 hours to unravel using a brute-force attack.

To create strong passwords you must avoid patterns or repetitions. You also do not select letters or numbers that are next to side by side on the keyboard.
You also do not use personal information such as your date of birth or name as a password. Adding capital letters, symbols, and numbers in unexpected places is highly recommended.
