Apple is said to have completed testing the durability of two folding screen (foldable ) iPhones which are said to be launched in 2022-2023 later.
Endurance tests were carried out on the two fold hinge system. The tests were carried out at Foxconn’s factory in Shenzhen, China.
Apple’s first foldable phone is said to be using a two-screen split model. It is estimated that this model is similar to the rumors circulating by Jon Prosser in June 2020.
The two screens will be connected by a hinge. Even though it is a separate screen, Jon said that the two panels do not appear to be split and the image looks continuous.
In addition, Apple has patented a device with two separate screens that can be joined together as one folding device with a hinge.
This patent sounds a lot like Apple’s dual foldable screen issue which is currently rumored to have passed the test, as quoted by MacRumors of a Chinese news portal.
Clamshell Shaped Apple Foldable Mobile Phones
Apple’s second foldable phone is said to be in the form of a clamshell. This is similar to the form of feature phones of old. A similar form is also used on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or Moto RAZR cellphone managed by Lenovo.
According to the UDN report, this clamshell folding cellphone uses Samsung’s foldable OLED screen. Previous reports have also stated that Apple has ordered a large number of samples of Samsung’s folding screens for testing purposes in early 2020.
It is unclear whether the two devices tested use the same hinge system. The clamshell folding cellphone unit testing is said to still have limited functionality, so it’s not fully usable yet.
Launched TechRadar, Apple’s clamshell cellphone is even just a case and screen, without including all the internal components in the device. Because, the main purpose of testing is to assess the durability of the hinge system designed by Apple.
Apple will use the hinge test report to see which type of hinge will be used. Because, only one model will be used for further cellphone development.
Based on a report in November 2020, Apple is said to have sent a folded iPhone to Foxcon for testing 100 thousand times the opening and closing.
It is estimated that a foldable iPhone will appear in late 2022 or 2023. Apple has filed a large number of patents related to foldable phones since 2016.
