Various countries from around the world have started covid-19 vaccinations. Last Wednesday (13/1), Indonesia had started its initial vaccination. However, this happy news is not in line with the prediction of the Moderna boss. Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel reminded the world community that the Covid-19 virus, which has crippled the economy and overwhelmed hospitals, will exist “as long as” in the world.
This grim prediction was expressed by Stephane Bancel in a Panel discussion at the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference in the United States (US) as quoted from CNBC International, Thursday (14/1/2021).
“SARS-COV-2 (Covid-19) will not go away. We will live with this virus, we think forever,” he said.
It seems that the CEO of Moderna agrees with the statements of several experts that Covid-19 will become an endemic disease. So, this disease will be present in society all the time.
There are 4 Types of Covid-19
According to the World Health Organization (WHO). There are already four types of corona viruses that are endemic throughout the world. But they are neither contagious nor deadly like Covid-19.
Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine named mRNA-1273 has received an emergency use permit from the United States Food and Drug Administration (US) to be injected into citizens aged 18 years and over.
The final data on the final stage of clinical trials said the level of efficacy (efficacy) of the Moderna vaccine reached 94%. This means that this vaccine can reduce the risk of being infected with Covid-19 by up to 94% compared to those who are not vaccinated.
Moderna revealed that the mRNA-1273 vaccine was able to provide protection to the body within a year. That means revaccination must be done so that the body is protected from Covid-19.
