Boss of the Thodex crypto trading platform, Faruk Fatih Ozer, reportedly disappeared and brought with him US $ 2 billion in digital assets. He is reportedly in Thailand.
Fatih Faruk Ozer also issued a statement on Thursday (22/4/2021), that he would close the Thodex platform for 4-5 days in the sales process. However, since Wednesday (21/4/2021) when trading was suddenly stopped, users have complained about not being able to access digital assets.
“The service will remain temporarily closed for about five working days until the share transfer is complete, but users do not have to worry about their investment,” wrote Fatih Faruk Ozer, as quoted by Daily Sabah, Friday (23/4/2021).
After this announcement, users who were unable to access crypto assets filed criminal charges against Thodex.
Based on preliminary data, the Police Fatih Faruk Ozer flew out of the country from Istanbul Airport on Tuesday afternoon. He is said to have fled to Thailand with US $ 2 billion in assets. Fatih Faruk Ozer has also closed all of his social media accounts.
Authorities Attorney Seize Ozer’s Account
Attorney Abdullah Usame Ceran, who has filed a criminal complaint against Ozer, has appealed to authorities to seize platform assets, including bank accounts, shares and holdings, Anadolu Agency reported.
Thodex reportedly has 400,000 members, 391,000 of whom are active in trade. According to Coinmarketcap, the 24-hour trading volume on Thodex was US $ 538 million on its last trading day.
Turkish news agency HaberTurk said Thodex stopped trading after running a promotional campaign selling Dogecoin at a discount but not allowing investors to sell.
Thodex posted on its website that the “negative” media reports about the company were untrue.
