More than 41.000 people signed a petition asking Jeff Bezos not to return to Earth. This is related to the plan of the Amazon boss to go to space using a New Shepard rocket next July 20, which was announced last June 7.
Just three days after the announcement, two petitions appeared on the Change.org page asking the founder of space exploration company Blue Origin not to return to Earth. Citing Business Insider, the petition now has thousands of supporters.
One of the petitions, ‘Don’t allow Jeff Bezos to return to Earth’, was signed by more than 23,000 people. The description of the petition also clearly asks the billionaire to just stay in space.
“Billionaires shouldn’t be on Earth, or in outer space, but if they decide the latter they should stay there,” reads the petition’s description, quoted Monday (21/6/2021).
Ask Other Millionaires To Leave
Not only that, one comment stated also asking other billionaires to leave. Not only Bezos, this also applies to Bill Gates and Elon Musk.
Meanwhile another petition, ‘Don’t Let Jeff Bezos Re-Entry to Earth’, has garnered more than 18,000 signatures. Petitioner Jose Ortiz also mentions Bezos as an evil ruler who dominates the world.
“The fate of mankind is in your hands,” he wrote in the petition’s description.
The two petitions each aim to get 25,000 signatures. Citing Change.org, this makes both of them the most signed petitions.
Previously, Bezos planned to go with his younger brother, Mark and the winner of the Blue Origin airplane seat auction. The price of the chair was successfully sold for US $ 28 million.
On top of the rocket, there is a dome-shaped capsule. Later when New Shepard is on the Karman line, an imaginary boundary 100 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, the capsule will separate from the booster back into the atmosphere and float to Earth with the help of a parachute.
