As smartphone users get savvier, hackers seek flaw in mobile operating systems with zero click attack. The spyware is as invisible as the cloak of invisibility wearer.
It does not require any action or single click to destroy the smartphone system.
Rania Dridi journalist for Arab network Al Araby reported that she had been under zero click hackers attack. She was devastated after claiming that it’s due to her reports in Arabian women rights and governmental high-profile critics. The top notch journalist faces severe intrusions now both virtual and private life.
A research group from University of Toronto, Citizen Lab revealed its analysis. A spyware called Pegasus striked Dridi’s iPhone XS Max more than six times with twice zero click attacks. As the representative of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Washington remains silence, Citizen Lab blamed UAE government.
Bill Marczak, fellow researcher in Citizen Lab remarked that zero click hacker is likely to attack users with good security awareness.
It reflects to Dridi’s case as she is digitally savvy. So, it can easily snoop and attack users without directed click. Users are completely doing nothing. Disastrously, zero click attack can attack any mobile operating systems such as Apple Inc.’s iOS and Google’s Android.
Unbelievably, some companies offer zero click hack. The dominant government provider, the Israeli firm NSO Group makes Pegasus said Marczak. NSO Group since 2019 was blacklisted in U.S. after implanting spyware on 1.400 WhatsApp service users. NSO on the other hand, disputes the allegations by saying that it sells the tech to track down terrorists or criminals.
Besides of NSO Group, other companies such as Arity and Zerodium, gained hundreds to million dollar from companies who may want to implant zero attack hack. Carine Kanimba who is in the decades trying to release his father as Rwandan government critic also suffers zero click hack said Amnesty International. Kanimba said she did not see any message. It simply infects with no click.
