August 26, 2019, the King of Malaysia is currently having a visitation to Indonesia. The visitation will last for four days, from 26 to 29.
Accordingly, the talks will further discuss bilateral relationships between Malaysia and Indonesia. The topics to discuss, according to Malay Mail, vary.
Prior to this event, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo made the first visit on August 9, 2019. Currently, this is the time for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to visit.
The King will do numerous meetings with several Indonesia’s political figures. Firstly, the king will attend a welcome ceremony at Bogor Presidential Palace hosted by President Joko Widodo and his wife. Also, there will also be a visitation to the famous Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta.
Furthermore, there will also be a visitation to Yogyakarta. There, the king will go to historical sites including museums. More importantly, there will be a meeting with the Sultan of Yogyakarta and the Yogyakarta Special Region Governor, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X as well.

The Relationship
The visitation aims to cement the existent bilateral ties between two countries that have lasted for approximately 62 years.
“The visit will foster the bilateral co-operation between Malaysia and Indonesia especially in economy which encompasses the aspects of investment and trade and tourism and education,” said Zainal Abidin Bakar, Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia.
“That is the aspect that we want to create so that more tourists and students from Indonesia will continue to come to Malaysia, to simultaneously develop cordial ties between the two countries,” he added.
According to him, there were approximately 4.000 Malaysian students studying in Indonesia. Meanwhile, around 11.000 Indonesian students were studying in Malaysia.
Furthermore, both countries are also famous for their palm oil production. To date, Indonesia and Malaysia are the current biggest palm oil producers.
In terms of trade, the two-way trade recorded was RM 72.02 billion in 2018, up by 7.4% compared to RM 71.51 billion in 2017.
