As the people of China, and Hong Kong, are celebrating their 70th National Day, the markets were not open on Tuesday. Due to the national holiday, the markets will remain closed for approximately seven days, from October 1 to October 7.

During this jubilant event, China’s President Xi Jinping marked the 70-year-rule of the Communist Party. This year’s celebration marks Communist Party’s one-year longer rule than Soviet Union, thus meaning that this indubitably is a great success.

A mass military parade colorized the picturesque celebration this morning. Afterwards, President Xi Jinping highlighted China’s rapid achievements since the inception of People’s Republic of China by Mao Zedong. In addition, he added that no force is capable of hindering the advancement.

“Today a socialist China is standing in front the world. No force can stop the Chinese people and the Chinese nation forging ahead,” he said.

Furthermore, he also underlined the gravity of unity, development, and strength. He is visioning an everlasting prosperity and stability, particularly in Hong Kong and Macau.

In addition, China also appears to receive a good present on its National Day. Previously, on September 30, US President Donald Trump was reconsidering the severe restrictions on investment in China. Arguably, this might be a good sign as the country is approaching the upcoming negotiations over the dispute.

National Day Celebration in Hong Kong

Elsewhere, in Hong Kong, the situation is completely distinct. As the celebration in Mainland China is filled with military parade, the one in Hong Kong is full of police barricade. Hong Kong has become a ‘battleground.’

The protest has escalated to become a violence this morning. Fully-equipped with tactical shields, the police even has to utilize tear gas to repel the protesters.

Reportedly, there was also a shooting during the violent protest. The police shot one of the protesters at a close range, particularly at the shoulder. The wounded protester was left behind as blood flowing from his shoulder.

Earlier, specifically on Sunday, the police made more than 100 arrests. One of the arrests include a high school boy who got beaten up despite being subdued.

In response to the turmoil, this has become homework for both governments of China and Hong Kong. Apart from economic and political reasons, these crimes against humanity must end as soon as possible.
