Blockchain technology has become one of the most talked topics of present years. Different industries have been exploring the potential this technology has – and the smartphone industry is one of them.
After tech giant Samsung launched its Galaxy S10 with a blockchain wallet, Taiwanese manufacturer, HTC, followed with its Exodus 1s.
The new smartphone, which can run a full Bitcoin node, is an upgraded version of the flagship Exodus 1. By using the phone, users can easily do their transactions and locks everywhere.
HTC chief decentralized officer Phil Chen said, “Full nodes are the most important ingredient in the resilience of the Bitcoin network, and we have lowered the barrier to entry for any person to run a node.”
Specifications of HTC Exodus 1s
Despite the significant role it would be playing on users’ Bitcoin trade life, HTC Exodus 1s only comes in 4 GB of ram with 63 GB storage. It includes hardware to store cryptocurrency.
However, users can expand the memory up to 400+GB SD card. This expansion is necessary to increase the data capacity of the full bitcoin ledger that requires storing. According to Blockchain, a full bitcoin ledger eats up to 250 GB of memory.
HTC also recommended phone users to connect to Wi-FI and plug to a power source when they run the full node.
Equipped with the Android Oreo 8.1, the Exodus 1s is priced at 219 euros.
The Taiwanese tech company is launching the phone at Lightning Conference in Berlin. In the future, it stated that it would sell the phone in 27 countries across Europe and the Middle East.
Blockchain technology is getting popular in the smartphone industry. Many deem it perfect for protecting users’ identities in their smartphones.
