North Korea views that US President Donald Trump is currently politically vulnerable following his impeachment. Additionally, there is a possibility that the country will not adopt to Washington’s demand anymore.
According to Business Insider, Trump’s impeachment makes the country worried that he would not win the 2020 election. Also, North Korea Trump view is whoever defeats Trump in the election will confuse the country about the denuclearization deal.
In addition, there is a potential that North Korea will scrape off all the negotiation progress, in which many suspect this as the promised ‘Christmas gift’ from the country. Even worse, Pyongyang can turn back into its very first nuclear state.
Earlier in December, Ri Thae Song, the first vice minister at the North Korean Foreign Ministry working on US affairs, stated that Washington’s attempt to conduct talks is nothing but trickery. Ri also hinted about North Korea’s ‘Christmas gift’ for the US.
“The dialogue touted by the US is, in essence, nothing but a foolish trick hatched to keep the DPRK bound to dialogue and use it in favor of the political situation and election in the US.
It is entirely up to the US what Christmas gift it will select to get,” Ri said.

Current Trump Administration to Face North Korea
With the gradually weakening administration, Trump prepares himself and the country to face North Korea. Questioned by reporters regarding the concern, Trump responded with an optimistic joke.
“Maybe it is present where he sends me a beautiful vase as opposed to a missile test. I may get a vase. I may get a nice present from him. You don’t know. You never know,” Trump stated.
In addition, Trump added that he is currently clueless about the ‘gift’ North Korea has prepared, but he will deal with it. Despite everything, the president keeps the details of the US-North Korea relationship in secret, proven by his reactions upon answering the questions during the campaigns.
“Oh, that is OK, we will find out what the surprise is and we will deal with it very successfully. Everybody has got surprises for me, but let’s see what happens. I handle them as they come along,” he added.
Elsewhere, former National Security Adviser John Bolton insisted that Trump administration should publicly admit its failure in dealing with North Korea.
In addition, he also added that the administration might actually not put more effort into the declunearization talks.
“We are now nearly three years into the administration with no visible progress toward getting North Korea to make the strategic decision to stop pursuing deliverable nuclear weapons,” Bolton said.
