Global smartphone sales are to reach around 1.5 billion units this year, down 2.5 percent from a year earlier, according to Gartner.
The biggest declines are in Japan, Western Europe and North America. Japan records 32 million units sales. While Western Europe 140 million units and North America 170 million units. All to fall 6.5 percent, 5.3 percent and 4.4 percent, respectively.
“The average selling price of products is high and there is no new features or experience to induce users to upgrade,” said a senior researcher at Gartner. No worries, the 5G tech would rise smartphone sales again in 2020
