With the emerging industry of e-commerce, cashback platforms are also growing big. Most of them offers discounts or cashback for purchasing something from their partners. But RebateMango realized that money or cash is not all of it.
How RebateMango makes the first to give air miles as rewards
The Thailand based company is taking cashback to another level. Instead of just giving cashback, it offers air miles for purchasing airplane tickets. The service is the first ever in Asia, if not the world, said Paul Koh, one of its’ co-founder.
Interestingly, airline companies are easier to persuade than you think. The secret was just a white label page. The white label page is an ads page without mentioning RebateMango. Instead the page is used fully for the airlines only.
It is different from other companies that usually just co-brand their websites. With the white label page, the airlines can promote as they like. But the customers using the page can only get air miles as the reward. Some also offers loyalty program points such as Changi Rewards Points.
Koh and his friends founded the company in 2015. They were colleagues in Agoda . While working in the previous company, they observed how some customers are not interested in cash rewards. It led them to invent the air miles rewards.
For airlines, RebateMango has partnerships with Singaporean KrisFlyer, Malaysian Enrich, AirAsia and GetGo. Meanwhile, in e-commerce, it also secures partnerships with big platforms. The platforms include Lazada, Ali-Express, Agoda and Expedia.
The company has also widen its’ services to other countries. It is now available in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. In the future, the company also expressed its’ desire to go further to other countries.
In Asia, cashback sites are not as known as in Europe or US. The lack of competition makes it a good prospect for the company to expand wider. Recently, it even acquires one of its’ biggest competitor, Dee Dee Cashback.
