Analytical thinking is one of the future skills on how we identify a problem, separating the parts and breaking it down to manageable smaller parts. In addition, this skill involves the process of gathering information and identifying key issues related to the information. This type of thinking also requires you to compare data from different sources to identify possible cause, see patterns and draw appropriate conclusions. It gives you the ability to solve problem quickly and effectively. Therefore, one can make innovations from the thinking process.
Active learning and learning strategies
Active learning includes analyzing, creating, role playing, experiencing, reflecting, discussing etc. In other words, It is an approach with various methods or strategies for implementation which goal is to learn better.
So, what is learning strategies? This skill is about how we can implement those elements to achieve better understanding of the material.
Complex problem-solving
We face many problems in our daily lives. That is to say, it is a simple one every single day and complex one the other days. This skill helps us to solve the complex one.
The definition of problem is:
“A matter or situation regarded as unwelcome or harmful and needing o be dealt with and overcome.”
Therefore, complex problem-solving is psychological processes to overcome barriers (in a harmful or unwanted situation) between a given state and a desired goal state. This future skill requires you to be able to think analytically.
Critical thinking and analysis
We have discussed about analytical thinking. But, what is critical thinking?
Critical thinking can be defined as a process to analyze and understand an idea to form a judgement about what to believe and what to do. it is believed to have two main components:
- Skills to process a set of information and generate belief on it
- Commitment and intellectual-based habit to guide one’s behavior
Critical thinking cannot be done without analysis. For this reason, it is a process.
Creativity, originality and initiative
Firstly, let’s see the definition of each of them!
Initiative: “The ability to initiate things independently.”
Creativity: “The use of imagination or original ideas to create a new and valuable item. Which can be intangible or a physical object.”
Originality: “The quality of being special and not the same as anything or anyone else.”
