Cybersecurity company, Palo Alto Networks predicts there are more personal data will be spread in the cybersecurity landscape by 2021.
5G networks are more threatening
VP & Regional Chief Security Officer Asia Pacific and Japan Palo Alto Network Sean Duca said that since the introduction of the 5G network, the technology will accelerate the massive rollout of the network in many countries.
“This needs to be a concern for companies in 2021. “The implementation of 5G is much more challenging and results in an increased potential for cyber attacks,” he said in a virtual discussion, Tuesday (12/1/2020).
In addition, he sees that the technology will lead companies to adopt a more intense work from home pattern so that higher-ups have to redesign how remote working conditions and safety are for the entire team.
Unfortunately, he considered that currently many of these solutions rely on old technology which is unstable and unable to support simultaneous connectivity.
“There is only one lesson to be learned from 2020, it is possible to apply remote work on a company wide scale. Later, in 2021 all focus will be on humans themselves. A year that offers a variety of new opportunities for businesses to continue to grow and support employees in completing their daily tasks, ”he said.
Several things that must be considered
Director & Systems Engineering of Palo Alto Networks Indonesia Yudi Arijanto mentioned that there are a number of things that need to be considered by those who work remotely.
Do not install plug-ins in your browser arbitrarily
He appealed to employees to avoid installing plug-ins on their browsers carelessly.
“Plug-ins that are installed carelessly may contain malicious programs or harmful malware. So don’t install plugins carelessly,” he said.
Pay attention to security matter about online transactions
He also added that the trend of cybersecurity will also target people who work at home. It’s because they cannot far from various digital activities. One of them is transactions carried out with the same device as the one used for work.
“I recommend always activating the Two-Factor Authentication [2FA] authentication method for logging in to various online accounts. This is because 2FA adds a layer of security. Thereby preventing hackers or cyber criminals from gaining access to user accounts, “he said.
Be careful with e-commerce and other online services
Finally, there are several sectors that are prone to cyber attacks in 2021. Namely health, e-commerce, and banking.
“The reason is, the more people’s assets are put on the internet or in the cloud. Of course, they become easy targets for cyber criminals. The health sector will be subject to many attacks, banking, financial, e-commerce. This is because most of the community data are there, “said Yudi.
