The demand for jobs always change. Fast-growing trends, crisis, pandemic, and a lot of things could change job roles and demand. Forbes noted three fast-growing jobs for 2021, based on the Wall Street Journal prediction.
More healthcare providers for 2021, a reflection from 2020
2020 has shown us how important healthcare providers are. Unfortunately, 2020 also reveals that we are in lack of healthcare providers.
The demand for jobs in the healthcare department will likely skyrocket in 2021. This argument is supported by the U.S. Labor Department, saying “the healthcare and social assistance sector is projected to add the most new jobs, and six of the 10 fastest-growing occupations are related to healthcare”, as quoted from Forbes. The Department of Labor further continued, “Five out of the 20 fastest-growing industries for the next decade are in the healthcare and social assistance sector.” Additionally, longer life expectancies and constantly increasing number of patients with chronic conditions also call for more healthcare providers in the future.
It is as much important to note that mental health providers will see a rise in demand too. For the past few years, a lot of people have started to pay more attention to their mental health. By 2029, the demand for psychiatrists is expected to grow 12% higher.
The technology industry is undying
We all know how Amazon, Google, Netflix, Microsoft and Zoom managed to thrive in the pandemic. The technology industry is difficult to tumble and might grow even bigger in the future. New inventions come every month, and it provides a big help to people around the world.
The Labor Department noted that further technology advancement may support “rapid employment growth in the professional, business and scientific services sectors.” This also includes “computer systems design and related services, as well as management, scientific and technical consulting services,” Forbes quotes.
Additionally, clean energy-related jobs might see a rise in demand. Jobs that deal with renewable energy may increase by 50% more than the 2019 levels. Companies will soon in dire need of wind turbine technicians and solar photovoltaic installers.
Technology advancement, however, comes with a price. “office and administrative support occupations and for sales occupations” could, on the other hand, suffer from a decline in demand. The worst-case we may face is at least 444,800 jobs loss in the manufacturing sector.
Pets!
Yes, pets. The pandemic has brought a rapid increase in pet owners. Pet food, toys, and accessories might soon see its time to shine. Accordingly, this calls for more doggy day kennels, dog walkers, groomers, trainers, veterinarians and other jobs related to animal care. Forbes noted that there could be a 13 to 23% of rising in the industry.
