With the blooming trend of startup companies, a new star from the East has risen. Aaron Tan, a Singaporean young entrepreneur, is the CEO of the most promising startup in Southeast Asia. He branded his company as Carro. Carro, which in Portuguese means cars, deals with used car selling and buying.
Carro in making it easier for people to buy cars
The startup company built a platform for people to both sell and buy cars. The used car marketplace grew big not only in its’ home base in Singapore but also in other Southeast Asian countries. Carro is now available in Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Carro does not just offering a marketplace for buying and selling car. With a massive funding that count up to $109 million until its’ last funding, it expanded to other branches. The branches include services related to car ownership.
From Carro Express, Graph.sg, Carro Accessories, and Carro Workshop. Each offers car delivery, online tool to calculate a car’s value, online shop for car-related gadgets, and a mobile app for finding maintenance shops.
A series of problems related to helping customers getting a loan for buying cars popped up in 2017. Facing this, Aaron Tan came up with an exclusive financing service to help car buyers get the credit they need. Genie Financial Services wants to make automobile financing more accessible.
Promising less and delivering more
With the principal of promising less and delivering more, Aaron Tan started to build his company in 2015. The principal is actually mostly meant for fundraising. But being a startup, fundraising is a vital point in the company development.
“The logic is that the lower the forecast is compared to what you actually deliver, the greater the bonus will be,” said Tan to KrAsia.
In 2019, Carro released its’ newest feature. It unveils Singapore’s firs subscription-based car service. The service allows consumers to select a plan and have the car they need. They only need to pay a flat monthly fee to cover up insurances, road tax, warranty, 24-hour assistance and maintenance cost. At once, it allows customers to own their dream cars without being concerned of the maintenance that entails behind.
