Pokémon, the cute little monsters fever
Who doesn’t know Pokémon? The whole bunch of cute magical monsters receives love from people across gender or age. It was first developed in 1996, by Game Freak Inc. and distributed by Pokémon Company. Nintendo then helped the distribution of the game worldwide. Pokémon came from the phrase Pocket Monster, with its’ signature pocket ball used to capture the so-called monsters.
Despite being over 23 years old, Pokémon is still popular for gamers around the world. Moreover, the cute characters of the game make it impossible for people not to love them. Especially Pikachu, the main character and mascot of the game. Pikachu even has its own festival in Hokkaido, bringing hundreds of its figures dancing and singing around the streets.
Constant changes and updates
Game Freak did a very good job in keeping the game up to date. In the early days, the company released the game in pairs with slight variation. Then it released the same game again a few years later with the newest consoles.
And in 2015, the Japanese company made a bold move to buy a game developer company. It was to keep them updated with the new smartphone age. A year later, Game Freak launched Pokémon GO for the first time. Then the game became a worldwide phenomenon.
Being the first game to combine real and virtual realm, Pokémon GO became headlines in every news portal around the world. People were out using their smartphones to search for the Pokémon around the town.
The game even reached $2 billion revenue by the end of 2018, just two years after its initial release. It is now the third fastest mobile game growth in the world. Even though the fever of the game is not as hot as it was at the first year.
Pokémon is still doing innovations and refreshments to keep exist. It’s going to release its first ever life action movie, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. The movie is set to the movies in May 2019, starring Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu. Are you ready to be struck with some sizzling cuteness?
