Oppo as many firsts for the tournament
All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), the Grand Slam organizer, held its’ first tournament in 1877. Now, for the first time in 52 years, it held a partnership with an Asian company. Previously, AELTC partners with mostly European brands. The brands include Rolex, Slazenger (tennis ball brand), IBM, Lanson, etc.
AELTC chose Oppo as its’ first step to scale up in Asia, and China in particular. The brand is one of the biggest both in its country and in other countries such as India and other Southeast Asian countries. It is one of the ten biggest phone maker companies in the world.
In the tournament’s attempt on stealing the youngsters’ attention, it deemed Oppo fit the role perfectly. Its smartphones are famous for the great camera. Moreover, the newest camera development in its’ most recent flagship series, Reno, has also attracted the AELTC.
Oppo smartphones would be used in taking the pictures of the tournament. Then it would be posted on both Wimbledon homepage and the smartphone’s homepage. For Oppo, it is a great opportunity to embark on the European market that is now crowded with its competitor such as Huawei, Xiaomi and Samsung.
Oppo did not just secure a partnership with Wimbledon. It is also positively joining a partnership with Spanish football club, Barcelona FC. Beyond that, it is securing another partnership with International Cricket Council too.
