Didi’s version of an autonomous driving car
It seems like Didi can’t stand being behind other companies. Its competitor, Baidu has put its driverless minibuses to use. And Didi is following close behind by making its’ own version of an autonomous driving car.
The self-driving car first went to public in and exposition held in Suzhou, China. It is a retrofit of the previous BYD Qin model. President of Chile, Sebastian Pinera has previously tested the car when visiting the company.
Currently, Didi is testing the car in California and Beijing. The car has obtained testing licenses in both the countries. And to fasten up the progress, the company made an autonomous driving subsidiary.
Expansion to more cities in Japan
Meanwhile in its’ home country. Didi has a piling work to regain trust from customers. Previously, a driver raped and killed his female customer. And the similar crime happened again within a few months. The incidents lost the company a lot of customers.
Yet it still excels on opening its service in more cities in Japan. Backed up by SoftBank Japan, it opened its services in Kyoto and Tokyo by the end of April 2019. Last year, it started on its expansion in Osaka at August. The addition of the two cities will cover almost half of Japan’s population.
Qunyan, Didi’s smart mobility platform
Recently, the Chinese ride-hailing platform also launched a smart mobility platform. It is called Qunyan which means Wild Geese in English. The platform will export its artificial intelligence capabilities to various parties. The parties include governmental agencies, other companies, and research institutes.
Didi claimed to 150 corporate clients on the platform. As well as “desensitized data” from the platform that has provided to more than 660 universities , and research institutes worldwide.
Currently, Didi has it services available in more than 1000 cities across five countries. And it also plans on making various smart transportation solutions available to government. As well as other companies in the mobility sector, including other ride-hailing companies.
