Huawei: Hongmeng is Expected to Launch, Soon

After a long wait, Huawei will finally launch its new OS, Hongmeng. However, what is known about it so far?

Since its first development in 2012, the wait is almost over. The Verge reported that Huawei possibly reveals Hongmeng this week.

So far, Huawei confirms that the OS is specially designed for Internet of Things (IoT). Recently, the confirmation is pertaining to its use to accommodate artificial intelligence and smart screens.

Prior to this story, the company made numerous announcement about it. Accordingly, the most shocking one is that Hongmeng is not for smartphones, possibly.

However, there exists a possibility that the OS will also aim for smartphone market. CTO of Huawei Indonesia stated that the information is confidential.

“Regarding the implementation of Hongmeng to smartphones, it is still confidential for public,” said Vaness Yew, the CTO.

With this in mind, we can expect that the OS will also be under development for newer Huawei’s smartphones. Since the information is so little, we can only wait. Only time can answer.

So, What is Hongmeng?

Since US ban to Chinese companies took effect, Huawei belongs to one of the company that suffers. The trade war puts the company in a tight spot accordingly.

Following the ban, Huawei announces a possible Android competitor, Hongmeng. Put simply, Chinese, or possibly other countries, smartphones would later use this OS instead of Android. Notable names such as Xiaomi and Vivo were present.

As the time went on, the Chinese tech giant issued more information pertinent to the development. Varying from its speed until its installment, the OS got public and media’s attention. The company, moreover, registered the OS worldwide.

However, the company confirmed a shocking information recently. The OS would not replace Android for now. Furthermore, the company stated that they have not made any preparation if the US does not permit the use of Google’s service.

Recently, as the company will reveal the OS to the public soon, a new information prevails. To be precise, the company seems to give hope that the OS would later on be available for smartphones.

The issue, in addition, keeps going.
